Sjef Frijns (1963) has been in the business as a photographer for over 35 years. Born in Limburg, he has been interested in photography since his childhood. After secondary school, he decided to study photography at the School for Photography and Fotonica in The Hague. (Later merged into the Academy of Fine Arts). He specialises in advertising, industrial and architectural photography, supplemented by portrait photography. Numerous reports for various clients have shaped him as a person and as a photographer.
After years of being active as photographer, one of his clients asks him to make something to hang on his wall. Custom made if possible.
The printing techniques on wallpaper and other materials were such that a whole new world opened up for Sjef. The result: Goose. Geese combined with fine plant structures.
This was the beginning of Wallcoverart.
His love of nature in combination with architecture and his sense of structure from his years of experience as a photographer turned out to play a major role in this. He quickly developed a new form of “art for the wall”, which in terms of design can be called unique.
He uses structures and patterns found in nature as the basis for his images.
The combination of his eye for detail, his feeling for design and interior, decide that his field of activity will gradually shift to high-quality and unique design for the interior. This in the form of Dibond with or without acrylic, acoustic canvas on frame and wallpaper.
