Chioggia heeft heel veel weg van Venetië. Dit kleurrijke stadje ligt net ten zuiden van de wereldberoemde lagune van Venezia. De boten, de bruggen en de kleurrijke huizen zijn er net zo talrijk en daarom wordt Chioggia ook wel “La Picola Venezia” genoemd. Het is er rustig en het wemelt er helemaal niet van de toeristen. De kleurrijke huizen worden mooi weerspiegelt in de kanalen. Met je ogen dichtgeknepen denk je echt dat je in Venetië rondloopt. Met zijn knusse pleintjes, zijn mooie kathedraal is dit een verademing om in rond te wandelen.

Chioggia is very similar to Venice. This colourful town is located just south of the world-famous Venice lagoon. The boats, the bridges and the colourful houses are just as numerous, which is why Chioggia is also called “La Picola Venezia”. It is quiet and not at all crowded with tourists. The colourful houses are beautifully reflected in the canals. With your eyes squeezed shut, you really think you are walking around in Venice. With its cosy squares, its beautiful cathedral, it is a relief to walk around in.
